What's LOVE got to do with it!

What's Love Got to Do with It (1993) Poster
June 9, 1993

This is ultimately my favorite movie OF ALL TIME!!! I was only a tiny person when this movie came out but like others I grew up watching this movie and Listening to Tina Turner's music. The story of rock singer Tina Turner and how she rose to stardom with her abusive husband Ike Turner and how she gained the courage to break free.
This movie broke the mold for many women who were in similar situations and promoted the Buddhist way of life. Angela Bassett was really feeling this role and executed it very well!! She truly captured Tina Turner and reenacted her. This movie received a lot of negative feedback coming from Ike Turner fans but WHATEVER the story is about Tina telling her story and giving people a glimpse of how she lived! I give the movie 5 stars and four Thumbs up I adore this movie and Tina and watch the movie every other night! At the point I can reiterate the movie frontwards and Back!!!

Twilight Saga Series

Now, I AM A HUGE TWILIGHT FAN!!!! I have read all the books and watched all of the movies and I think they are AMAZING! For those of you that think otherwise and Suck on an egg!!!! The series has it all, drama, romance, suspense, comedy and to think it was based off of a vague dream..a small image in Stephanie Meyer's mind! I have truly grown to love this series and its characters I call myself a twilight geek hahaha. The Twilight Saga is a series of five romance fantasy films from Summit Entertainment based on the four novels by the American author Stephenie Meyer. The films star Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner. The series has grossed over $3.3 billion in worldwide receipts and consists, to date, of five motion pictures. The first installment, Twilight, was released on November 21, 2008. The second installment, New Moon, followed on November 20, 2009, breaking box office records as the biggest midnight screening and opening day in history, grossing an estimated $72.7 million. The third installment, Eclipse, was released on June 30, 2010, and was the first Twilight film to be released in IMAX.
The series was in development since 2004 at Paramount Pictures, during which time a screen adaptation of Twilight that differed significantly from the novel was written. Three years later, Summit Entertainment acquired the rights to the film. After Twilight grossed $35.7 million on its opening day, Summit Entertainment announced they would begin production on New Moon; they had acquired the rights to the remaining novels earlier that same month.A two-part adaptation of Breaking Dawn began shooting in November 2010 with November 18, 2011, and November 16, 2012, release dates.

To the last bullet, to the last plane, to the last man..WE FIGHT!

Red Tails Poster.jpg
Jan.20,2012

This movie was based on the Tuskegee Airmen. It was about African American men who fought racism and took their fight to the skies. Actors like Terrance Howard and Cuba Gooding Jr. really captivated the characters and added emotion and feeling to the movie! I watched this movie and theaters and endured almost every emotion possible. I cried, laughed, was in suspense, and was even a little angered during the movie...(A few curse words were exclaimed) Red Tails really captured the struggle and live of the Tuskegee Airmen. If you haven't seen the movie I HIGHLY suggest that you go watch it, it is truly a good movie to see. 5 Stars and Two thumbs up!

Napoleon Dynamite

(2004)
From the rural town of Preston, Idaho, comes Napoleon Dynamite (Jon Heder). With a red 'fro, his moon boots, and illegal government ninja moves, he is a new kind of hero. His family consists of fragile brother Kip (Aaron Ruell), who's seeking his soulmate in online chat rooms; Uncle Rico (Jon Gries), who is stuck in his "glory" days of high school football; and Grandma (Sandy Martin), who enjoys going out to the dunes on her quad-runner. Napoleon spends his days drawing magical beasts, working on his computer hacking skills to impress the chicks, and begrudgingly feeding his Grandma's pet llama. When his friend Pedro (Efren Ramirez) decides to run for class president, it is Napoleon to the rescue to help him triumph over adversity.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! It's one of my top favorites, Its quirky, cooky, funny, and really represents the underdogs! I give this movie TWO THUMBS WAYS UP!!!

The Glass House

The Glass House film.jpg
Sixteen-year-old Ruby (Leelee Sobieski) and eleven-year-old Rhett (Morgan) lose their parents in a car accident. Their parents' will is not a recent one, but in accordance with its terms the children are placed under the guardianship of family neighbors from some years back, the childless couple Erin (Diane Lane) and Terry (Stellan Skarsgård) Glass, who live in a large glass house in Malibu.
There are early indications that all is not well: the children have to share a room together, they are no longer educated privately, Rhett is allowed to play with games consoles at all times, and Ruby is made uneasy by Terry's sexual hints when they are alone. Ruby comes across unlabeled pharmaceuticals and sees Erin injecting herself, though the couple claim this is for diabetes. Ruby tries without success to get the children's estate and trust fund lawyer to accept her concerns, and a visiting social worker is taken in by the Glass's assurances.
Ruby discovers mail from the children's maternal Uncle Jack (Chris Noth) in the trash, along with a letter from a private school indicating the Glasses unregistered the children and pocketed the $30,000-plus tuition money. Ruby also finds signs that Terry is in debt to loan sharks, and she gradually realizes her new foster parents are after the siblings' $4 million trust fund. Ruby becomes suspicious of her parents' death and discovers evidence of the Glasses' involvement.
After an unsuccessful attempt to run away, the kids are recaptured, the Glasses drug Ruby, and Terry tells Erin they must get rid of Ruby. Overcome by guilt and having lost her medical license due to her drug abuse, Erin commits suicide. Terry locks the kids in the basement and sabotages his car, expecting the kids to make another escape attempt. However, the loan sharks, alerted by Ruby, appear at Terry's house, kill the estate attorney (who has come to confront Terry and revealed his complicity), repossess Terry's Jaguar, and insist on taking a ride. Terry begs them to reconsider, or to at least take another car, but eventually gives in. The car goes over a ledge and crashes, killing the loan sharks, though Terry survives.
Meanwhile, the children are picked up by a friendly cop. The policeman stops at the scene of the accident and, while investigating, Terry knocks him out. After climbing back up the embankment, and armed with a gun, Terry tries to lure Ruby and Rhett towards him. Ruby hits Terry with the police car and kills him instantly. In the end, Ruby and Rhett end up living with their Uncle Jack, who takes them to Chicago, where they visit their parents' grave and embrace each other as the credits roll

Seguel to A Haunted House

A Haunted House 2 movie poster
For starters, let me say, It really didn't take long to make a sequel to A Haunted House. The first one was pretty funny, like most spinoffs, it made fun of scary movies that came out like paranormal activity. It came out April 18, 2014 and so far I've read pretty ok reviews.
Crossing new lines and breaking old barriers, A Haunted House 2 is the sequel to the box-office hit starring Marlon Wayans as Malcolm who, after exorcising the demons of his ex, is starting fresh with his new girlfriend and her two children. After moving into their dream home, Malcolm is once again plagued by bizarre paranormal events.

X-men: Days of future past

X-Men: Days of Future Past movie poster
May 23, 2014

The story is partially set in an alternate future where surviving mutants have been penned in concentration camps, giant robots called Sentinels patrol America, and most of the X-Men have been hunted and killed. In the present day, the X-Men were forced to stop a key event from unfolding in order to keep that future from occurring.
I am a little hesitant to watch this movie only because in movie history, once a movie come out with multiple series that movie becomes...WHACK! This is only my opinion. however, I am going to give it an opportunity to live up to its name because IT'S THE X-MEN!! yet another classic I grew up on and love dearly for it was apart of my childhood

The Wizard of OZ: animated

Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return movie poster

This old-time favorite movie has brought smiles, tears and suspense to families for years! I grew up on this movie and today I still have a love for the Wizard of Oz. 2014 has been the year for movie remakes and has been slightly successful so far...So, I am excited to watch the animated remake of the wizard of oz coming out May 9, 2014! The movie: Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return is about
Back in Kansas, Dorothy Gale decides to return to Oz in order to help her friends.

The plot begins as Dorothy returns to Kansas to find it destroyed by the tornado that sent her to Oz. Before she can react to the destruction of her home, she is transported back to Oz, where her three friends (Scarecrow, Lion and Tin Man) are missing. She meets a charming man made of marshmallows who can’t quite think for himself, a tiny china doll princess whose bossiness is a cover for her being weak, and a tugboat with as many personalities as he has pieces. Dorothy must help this group band together against the Jester, a wicked new villain who believes that all of Oz should be under his control. How will Dorothy and her new companions work together in a seemingly disastrous time to restore Oz to the place we all know and love?

Spider man 2

I'm really looking forward to seeing this movie! I'm not a huge spiderman fan, however; I grew up on this neighborhood hero and I've watched some of the older movies and was pretty satisfied! This movie is due to come out May 2, 2014 and I know SpiderFans are elated! Peter Parker runs the gauntlet as the mysterious company Oscorp sends up a slew of supervillains against him, impacting on his life. With a back story like this and stars like Andrew Garfield, Jamie Foxx, and Emma Stone this movie should be pretty DARN SWEET!

TV and Food

Tv has been best buds with restaurants such as McDonalds. Tv's purpose is to make places like such look appetizing and promote ALL the good things about these eateries. The most worldwide complaint is "Television makes the food look so good! but when you go the place the food is not so appetizing" Why is this? Hmmm because restaurants that pay for advertisement look to PROMOTION and sales that want to bring people in...Now, in the event that somehow there's any type of bad publicity toward the restaurant, that particular business can SUE!!! Scary word right? What's even scarier is the businesses manipulate a few things to make their restaurant look like the best place on earth and consumers are enticed. They become frequent customers and have no idea what they are eating. However, let me not be a hypocrite because I eat at these places because where I currently reside (for school) there are really no options and buying groceries as a college student is a struggle.
The question I pose to my readers is: How do you feel that the media polishes restaurants and trick the consumers?

Social Media

Social Media has become such a huge epidemic. It is literally taking over! Within days upon days, on a hourly basis people are glued to their phones and laptops vigorously viewing their social media pages. Social media has become a major outlet for people staying in contact and connecting with new people. This major source of communication gives people the OK to be nosey without invading privacy or coming up with false truths because all the information is right there at the tip of their fingers! I love Social media because its gateway away from boredom during my less productive days, even when I am busy I find ways to sneak in social media for a source of entertainment. The cool factor about social media is its easy to access and it can create jobs! All you have to know how to do is download, create a page and run it successfully by gaining followers and gaining revenue and you are getting paid a pretty penny!

ParaNorman's abnormality

August 17, 2012

I have to say this was a cute movie!! Though it is in question on whether or not Tim Burton had his hand on the film or not it was still awesome. The movie is about a not so average boy who has a zombie obsession but a unique gift to see and talk to ghosts/spirits. He was an outkast but because of the town's past history of witch hauntings it is up to Norman to restore peice in his town and the afterlife. I really enjoyed the back story and the graphics were pretty SWEET! The creators really brought the characters to life! ParaNorman was humorous, action pact, and had some suspense. Whether smaller children should watch it is a little questionable but it is still CUTE! I as an young adult really enjoyed it so I give it two zombified thumbs UP!!!!!!

Media: How much of an impact does it really have?

The media has the capability to move, shake and influence the way society thinks and shapes its very way of life. People give the media its power to mold how their lives are going to orbit. Moreover people need something to blame for why society is so called "Twisted" The media is a crutch so to speak because people ask for drama, fights, sex, and thugga boo relationships and the media simply gives the people exactly what they desire. In my personal opinion, no one should blame the media for having a "Big Head" and reaping the benefits of the people's thirst for... "Ratchet" material. my advice to the people STOP COMPLAINING! as people we indulge in the very things that allegedly does damage to the very fiber of being. Shows like: Love and Hip Hop and Basketball wives are great examples of shows that quench the thirst of the people..so how much impact does the media really have? My answer to you is Media is like a huge meteorite that has crashed into the earth and left a semi-permanent crater in the world

The Host

www.googleimages.com

The Host is yet another genius creation by Stephanie Meyer, the creator of the Twilight series. The Host came out in theaters March 29, 2013. This movie was about a "threatening"  species was taking over the human race and their bodies. To the small percentage of humans left, they were life threatening but the spirits thought of it as saving the earth from its own self-destruction. Personally, before I even watched the movie, I was in complete approval. Why? because DUH IT'S STEPHANIE MEYER THE CREATOR OF TWILIGHT OF COURSE! Watching the movie clearly confirmed my reasoning... The Host was action pact, filled with suspense, romance, laughs and just a tiny tear jerker. This movie was pretty good subtracting negative nick boyfriend in your ear exclaiming how whack the movie is, however I totally give this movie two thumbs up!!!
